Safiya is a visual artist who has been based in Colombo for the last 5 years. As a third culture kid, Safiya has lived all her life in different countries and takes inspiration from the intricate urbanscapes in these spaces.

Art was always a hobby for Safiya and through summer classes that she attended over her school years, she was able to hone her hobby and fine tune her art skills. She studied Architecture as her Undergrad as a means to follow art in a more complex structure.

However, after working a year in the field, she began to search for a more organic form of art, something that would allow her to pursue her acquired skills and give her space to communicate her ideas.

After moving to Sri Lanka and traveling across the beautiful coast of the island, through trial and discovery she found a connection with the ocean and how it could bring to life unspoken emotions.

Her love for the ocean only seemed to grow and blossom onto the canvas in front of her. Hues of green and tropical leaves softly planted themselves amongst her palette and helped her bring forth hopeful imagery.
